Nashville Girls Weekend

My last trip of the year was to Nashville with one of my girlfriends for just a quick weekend 3-4 day trip. Honestly I LOVED visiting Nashville and I’m already looking forward to going back again another time with friends or even my BF. I’m a huge country fan and well we all know the Nashville is known for it’s country music as well just as overall LIVE music! I was also a huge Nashville (the show) fan when it came out and became really obsessed with one day visiting. So naturally the Grand Ole Opry was high on my list and Blue Bird but sadly only made it to the Opry which was well worth it. I don’t know how we ran out of time while there but it felt so fast! We went in Mid December and it was pretty cold at night and a chilly in the day. We also found out that it was SUPER windy but gorgeous sunny days mostly minus one rainy day.

I’ve put together a weekend itinerary of some of the things we did while in town! Get inspired! 🖤

Staying at the Renaissance Nashville

Once landing in Nashville head on over to the Renaissance Nashville Hotel conveniently located downtown just a quick walk to Broadway aka. Honky Tonk Row and lots of amazing restaurants and bars! Seriously the perfect location.

Dinner at Husk

After a quick refresh and hungry stomachs head over to HUSK a Southern cuisine restaurant located a few blocks from Historic Broadway located inside an 19th Century Home. All the food served in the restaurant only includes ingredients local to the region all rediscovered to a more modern style. Honestly it was the perfect way to start our foodie journey in Nashville. They also have some incredible cocktails to choose from to help wash down the great food.

Drinks & Live music

After some amazing food and cocktails make your way to Printers Alley for some live music & more basic drinks. Start at Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie bar where there will be a cover charge, I’d encourage you to bring cash but they do take CC as well. The jazz music the band played was seriously incredible! Once you’re ready to move on check out any of the other bars around. Then close out your night at Nudies on Broadway another live band and fun atmosphere.

Lunch at PUCKETT’s RESTAURANT

We did a little workout at our hotel gym before heading out so we were later than expected and by the time we got to Puckett’s they’d stopped serving breakfast. So either head over to grab breakfast or skip and go straight for the lunch. Some of the best mac & cheese I’ve had in a while oh and of course the BBQ was pretty darn good. The food portions were pretty large so we shared a few dishes.

Puckett's Grocery

Stroll around Downtown

Take the afternoon to stroll around downtown Nashville. Make your way over to the Tennessee State Capitol Building & War Memorial Auditorium to just see it and even check out the Riverfront Park.

Then walk back to the Assembly Food Hall for some more live music, cocktails and shopping or even a snack if you’re hungry.

Drinks at PUshing Daisies

Make your way for a quick cocktail or two at Pushing Daisies Underground Margarita bar before going to the Opry. This speakeasy style bar is located down some stairs in almost a basement that’s been decked out in gorgeous decor.

Grand Ole Opry

Plan to arrive at the Opry about 15-20 minutes before the show incase you want to look around or grab a drink to take in while enjoying the show. The Grand Ole Opry is home to country music’s talented, past, present & future artists for the last 98 years. It started as a radio station, WSM, “We Shield Millions” and to this day still goes live for every show at the Opry. The show is about 2 hours long with a 15 minute intermission and has about 5-6 different artists who are all Opry Members who perform. Seriously incredible!

Note: If you’re going during winter time add extra time to your commute to the Opry as traffic was horrible normally takes 20 - 30 mins but took us about an hour instead.

Dinner at the Assembly Hall

After the show head back to the Assembly Hall which is open late to grab dinner and even another cocktail before hitting Honky Tonk Row for another night on the town!

Drinks & Music

First stop is Tootsies grab a drink on the first floor listen to the band here and then check out the next couple levels in the building and all the different bands performing. The vibe is so much fun and all the people and live music is just incredible. If you’re wanting to keep going then walk down Broadway to Nudies or one of the many other bars along the street!

Breakfast at Milk & honey

After a long & fun night make your way to the Gulch for some breakfast at Milk & Honey but be ready to wait about 30 minutes to 1 hour if you don’t have a reservation or you want to sit at a table. Otherwise you can wait near the bar as that is first come first serve.

If you’re feeling energized and daring order a ‘Breakfast Shot’ which is a shot of Jameson, orange juice and a lovely salty piece of bacon. Since Nashville is known for fried hot chicken don’t miss out on the hot fried chicken Benedict! So good!

Explore the Gulch

After breakfast walk around the Gulch and check out some of the cute boutiques in the neighborhood.

Quick hotel run after exploring the Gulch and get ready for drinks & dinner.

Grab Drinks

Make your way over to Pullman Standard Bar or Union Station Hotel Harry Potter Pop Up bar before grabbing dinner! We didn’t make it to a pre dinner drinks but we wanted to check out both these places.

Dinner at City House Nashville

Then head back to German town and eat at City House Nashville for some Italian comfort food.

We had reservations at Josephine but looks like as of Dec 23, 2023 they closed their doors permanently which is super sad cus the food was absolutely amazing!

After dinner drinks

If you’re feeling up to it then make your way for a night cap at Red Phone Booth it’s a prohibition experience with a 1920’s speakeasy atmosphere. Everyone enters through a antique London red phone booth using the secret phone number. We got it from our hotel Concierge so make sure you ask upon arrival!

Brunch at Biscuit Love

Last morning in Nashville so head over to Biscuit Love in the Gulch for brunch. When you get to the restaurant get in line and once at the counter order your food then they’ll seat you at a table with a number. The little biscuit donuts were amazing as well as the biscuits and gravy! highly recommend!

Stroll Downtown & Johnny Cash Museum

If you have time go check out the Country Music Hall of Fame + Museum and stroll around the Country Star Walk of Fame then head over to the Johnny Cash Museum.

This was honestly such an interesting museum and I learned so much more about Johnny Cash! The Johnny Cash Museum itself was also so well done with so many great artifacts to look at! Grab your tickets online before going as it’ll make your entrance time so much faster.

Walk the bridge

Before heading for lunch head go check out the pedestrian bridge downtown just a quick stroll from the Johnny Cash Museum. It gives you a great view of not only the river but downtown Nashville! A gorgeous skyline and so worth a little stroll.

Late Lunch at Hattie B’s

As the weekend comes to a close head over to Hattie B’s for some Nashville hot chicken. For anyone who didn’t know Nashville is the birthplace of Nashville hot chicken so for all those foodies out there this is a serious must! Don’t worry you will NOT be disappointed because it was honestly so amazing another thing to note is the portion’s are pretty large so if you wanted to share go ahead!

Hopefully this ultimate weekend guide was helpful and you have the best time! Check out more information at another post below.
