Winter in Prague

A couple years ago when I went London for Thanksgiving my Mum and I decided to make add another trip while all the way out in Europe! So we picked Prague where neither of us had been before. It was a perfect Mother Daughter weekend! We managed to get a lot in on our 4 day and 3 night trip so here were some of the things we did!

Stay at the Golden Key Hotel

Landing at the Prague Airport we hopped in our taxi making our way to the Golden Key Hotel located in the neighborhood of the Prague Castle. After checking into our hotel we made our way to find a dinner spot and just wander the street for a little bit before calling it a night. We found this super cute spot called Restaurant Pod Vezi. It had some really good food and the atmosphere was super cute.

Breakfast at the Golden Key Hotel

Enjoy the daily breakfast provided by the hotel before heading out for a day full of exploring. Don’t forget to wear your walking shoes as there will be lots of walking! Make your way to St. Nicholas Church, Church of Our Lady Victorious and the Infant Jesus of Prague then head over to Old town and check out the Old Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock which is stunning! Then just walk around Old town and pop into shops and grab yourself a drink and something to eat on your walk.

Hop on a Tram to Peace Square Christmas Market

I’m a HUGE Christmas Market fan and truly why we wanted to come to Prague! So make your way over to Peace Square to enjoy this Christmas Market. Grab some glogg/Glühwein and all the many snacks and food they have there.

Grab dinner near the hotel

Feeling a little lazy after a full day of exploring we grabbed dinner and a drink near our hotel and the food was GREAT! We went to U Glaubicu and ate some sausage and potatoes, very typical for Czech food.

Another Morning of Breakfast at the hotel

There are plenty of coffee shops and places to eat if you want to wander around for something other than what’s provided at the hotel. I’m just a big fan of saving some money and enjoying the food at the hotel especially if it’s good.

Check out the Prague Castle

Visit Prague Castle and check out the stunning architecture of the entire place. This Castle is the most significant Czech monument and one of the most important cultural institutions in the Czech Republic. The most famous and dominant feature of the castle is St. Vitus Cathedral entrance fee is $19 per person or 450 CZK. Make sure you check out the Art Nouveau stained-glass windows and read about the tombs of saints and Czech rulers that are housed here.

After that make your way down to the Golden Lane it is a charming lane in the easter part of the castle complex. Here you’ll find charming tiny doll-like homes of all sorts of colors and career backgrounds from servants and goldsmiths to many castle staff. You’ll only be able to go inside 9 of the 16 houses on the Golden Lane all from the 16th century and it is well worth the stroll.

After you’ve checked out all the sights to see in the castle and even checked out the view from all the way up here, which by the way is stunning and worth looking at. You can make your way over to the Christmas market. Located at Republic Square inside the Prague castle where we grabbed some glogg and even tried a traditional Czech dessert called trdelník a cinnamon sugary pastry shaped like a tube and tasted like a doughnut and cinnamon roll.

Explore Strahov Monastery + Library

The Strahov Library inside the Strahov Monastary is the most beautiful library halls in the world. You can make your own tour or book a special tour to have but either way the spaces are limited throughout the library. If you do purchase tickets it’s about 150.00 Kč and if you want to take pictures while inside I believe it used to be an additional cost. While at the Monastery also makes ure’re to check out the treasury and the historic halls and gardens. We arrived early afternoon and by the time we were done it was getting dark.

Dinner at Kuchyn

I’d done a tone of research and came across this restaurant located near the Castle with an amazing view of the city from above. Kuchyn was incredible! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great as well. We even had some Czech wine while there!

Last day in Prague

Breakfast at the hotel again before making your way over to the Jewish Museum. Then make your way over to Cathedral of Thy a mid-14th to early 16th centuries one of the most impressive Gothic religious buildings in Prague. The interior is stunning and even some great views. Then if you want or have time check out St.James Cathedral another pretty church with a lot of history in it before making your way around Old Town again to checking out Charles Bridge where you’ll get a great view of the Manes Bridge and just spend some time wandering around and enjoying the views.

Dinner at Triton Restaurant

After exploring make your way over to dinner at TRITON Restaurant some of the best food we had and a great way to end our trip to Prague! So hopefully you enjoyed this and it’ll be super helpful when you plan your trip to Prague!
