Healdsburg Wine tasting
My boyfriend and I went to Healdsburg for the weekend to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Since we've decided to get married in Healdsburg we thought this was a perfect way to spend our anniversary. Plus it's a great excuse to get out of the city. Just an hour and a half north of San Francisco it's hard to say no to visit another area in wine country.
Here is a quick guide to spending a weekend in Healdsburg.
Day 1:
During our weekend we planned to explore Healdsburg Square in addition to that we wanted to explore some of the other wineries in the area. The first thing we did was head over to Jordan Winery since that's a winery we've been wanting to try for ages. We made a reservation for a wine & cheese pairing tasting with a quick tour of the history and property. The venue is absolutely gorgeous it felt exactly like stepping in to France.
Our next stop was to Soda Rock Winery, which is actually our Wedding venue. We're super excited and couldn't resist stopping by for a tasting of the Bordeaux style wines. They are also dog friendly and absolutely perfect place to spend an afternoon relaxing with a few glasses of wine.
Since most of the restaurants are located over in the town square we headed to Jim Town. A cute little store serving sandwiches and salads as well as cute town made merchandise.
The final winery of the day before we headed back into Healdsburg square was Silver Oaks Alexander Valley. The perfect stop since it’s just around the corner from Soda Rock. This specific tasting room for Silver Oaks is pretty new and absoletely stunning. In the back of the tasting room there is a sheltered seating area where you can hang out and enjoy the views of the vineyards.
After enjoying all the delicious wines we headed to our hotel at Healdsburg Inn located in Healdsburg Square. The quaint hotel was right in the square surrounded by restaurants, bars and stores.
We had a quick glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres in our hotel before we headed to dinner at Barndiva. To be honest there were so many different restaurants in the square it can be tough to pick just one! But our decision was perfect and I can't wait to come back and try some of the many other amazing restaurants.
Day 2:
We woke up [actually slept in for once] and headed to our breakfast provided by the hotel. Tea, toast, jam & fruit a great, easy, delicious breakfast to start our day! But if you are so inclined there are plenty of great brunch spots in the square you can hit up. Got a few suggestions listed below.
After our quick breakfast we packed up and headed out to explore what's around Healdsburg square. Taking a stroll along the square past so many cute restaurants, coffee shops & boutique stores. From clothes to home goods to tea shops to, of course, wine tasting rooms.
We ended up at Healdsburg Shed a market, cafe & community gathering space perfect for people to get together and enjoy a delicious meal outside.
After walking around the SHED we strolled over to this Japanese tea restaurant, The Taste of Tea, for a light lunch. We got a tea tasting and enjoyed some delicious ramen.
Onward to some wine tasting at Cartograph Wines and Banshee Wine. But there are so many other tasting rooms to choose from. After this we just continued strolling past the stores and went to enjoy the live music in the square during the Healdsburg festival.
This was the perfect end a very relaxing weekend and a great excuse to take some time for yourself.
