Florence for a Weekend

Florence in the summer is insanely hot but beautiful to visit. Originally here in Florence for work but then extending through the weekend to be an official tourist. Anyway it was a quick trip so this isn’t the most detailed or in-depth information but here are some things I did and would recommend.

Upon arriving in Florence we head to our hotel at Hotel Florence Cavour to check in and drop our stuff. Arriving around lunch time the first thought that crossed my mind was alright I’m in Italy I need some pasta or pizza in my life where can I get it! Thankfully there was this pizza/pasta restaurant just around the corner from our hotel which was the perfect place to satisfy our cravings. We grabbed some rosé & ordered some food family style.

On to wander around the streets of Florence and on our first day we headed over to Pitti Umo men’s fashion warehouse event but for those literally here for a long weekend there is so much to see and explore around.

Stroll past the Domo and if you plan in advance buy tickets to go inside. Grab yourself some gelato and be warned the minute you step outside with it, it starts to melt.  If you go in the summer time anyway.

Some other things to check out are the Bobali gardens and museum. Serving you some great views of the city and history. You can spend between 2-3 hours here especially if you go inside the museum and check out the gardens.

Besides some of the traditional things to do and see here in Florence & Piazza della Signoria, there are loads of great bars and restaurants. Looking for some good views with some good cocktails check out La Terrazza Rooftop Bar and I’ve listed a few more below. But just because some of the bars/restaruants don’t have a view doesn’t meant they aren’t still great or have good people watching! haha

If you’re into wine you can even spend one day going up into wine country. We went to Chianti and did a vespa tour. Honestly had a blast but really didn’t love the wines that we tried so if I could do this again I’d look into going to some other wineries, I just am not sure how you’d want to get there.  They do have busses that take you there which could be an option if you feel like being adventurous or of course renting a car is an option.
